Thomas Woytko is a Duluth local trombonist. Growing up his main musical influence in his childhood was in a volunteer choir that met before school in 4th and 5th grade. Thomas picked up the trombone when he was 10 as a middle school requirement. The Duluth East Jazz bands are what really started to pull Thomas further towards a career in music. After listening to Trombone Shorty and bands like the Lucky Chops, Hot 8 Brass Band, and Hypnotic Brass he was sold. Thomas attended the fall 2017 staples low brass summit where he worked with and watched the Maniacal 4 and Christopher Bill perform. The low brass summit was the spark that influenced Thomas to form his Brass Band “The Boys Back Home”. Thomas has graduated from The University Of Minnesota Duluth music program with a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies under Ryan Frane and Derek Bromme.
