Early Jazz, also known as Traditional Jazz, New Orleans Jazz, or Hot Jazz, is the earliest style of jazz music that developed in the 1910s and 1920s in New Orleans. It was influenced by ragtime, blues, and marching band music, and typically featured instruments such as the piano, double bass, drums, clarinet, trombone, tuba, and saxophone. Early jazz is characterized by collective improvisation, where multiple musicians improvise simultaneously, creating a layered and rich sound. This style laid the foundation for later jazz subgenres and was popularized by artists like Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Bix Beiderbecke.
