Soul-Blues is a subgenre of blues music that emerged in the 1960s and 1970s, blending traditional blues structures with the emotional intensity and rhythmic drive of soul, rhythm and blues, and gospel. Characterized by expressive, gospel-infused vocals, prominent horn sections, organ riffs, and call-and-response patterns, soul blues often addresses themes of love, hardship, and resilience in African American life. It typically retains the 12-bar blues progression but incorporates more sophisticated arrangements and a polished, urban sound.
