Four Flies is thrilled to present the first-ever release of Alessandro Alessandroni’s complete soundtrack for Mario Gariazzo’s 1978 cult soft-porn film “Incontri Molto… Ravvicinati del Quarto Tipo”. Played almost entirely by Alessandroni, with help on vocals from his wife Giulia De Mutiis and his vocal group I Cantori Moderni, the soundtrack is a pastiche of quirky and minimalist compositions where the Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist turns technical and budget constraints into an advantage, relying mostly on the mysterious moods created by the synthesizers and drum-machines. The sonic palette of this previously unreleased masterpiece ranges from experimental sci-fi soundscapes (“Effetto Elettronico”; “Cappello Elettronico”; “Battimenti”) to suspenseful abstract textures (“Suspense Spaziale”; “Misterioso Spaziale”), and from hypnotic dark grooves (“Il Quarto Tipo”) to cheerful, sparkling pieces (“Incontri Molto… Ravvicinati” – in its various versions – and “Scesi dalle Stelle”).
