The only thing that’s ‘Kila-ish’ here is calling the first track ‘goodbye’; well that and the all-round atmosphere of the album.
It’s all very atmospheric and very hard to categorise (put in a box). The one thing that came into mind is ‘the thinking Gaels’ male version of Nora Jones’.
Very relaxing, very listenable. Soulful.
Recommended.

‘Giving’ is the long-awaited solo album from Kila’s Colm O’Snodaigh. It is a collection of thirteen self-penned songs in English and in Irish. It is full of stark beauty, majestic soundscapes, honest emotion and gentle reflection.
Guest appearing on the album are fellow members of Kila, Ronan O’Snodaigh, Dee Armstrong and Brian Hogan, singers Maria Doyle Kennedy, Lisa Hannigan and Nina Hynes, Irish Jazz stalwarts Richie and Dave Fleming to Rock musicians Fiachna O’Braonain and Liam O’Maonlai (Hothouse Flowers) and Frames fiddle player Colm MacConlomaire.
