Pianist Jean-Christophe Cholet presents ‘animA’, the second solo disc of a triptych started with Amnesia (2020). Boris Darley (sound engineer) and Quentin Cholet (artistic advisor) actively participated in the development of this disc. The collaboration started with the photographer Bertrand Gruyer for the design of the cover also continues.. – – ‘Anima is the second volume of my solo piano triptych started with Amnesia in 2020. mainly around improvisations, with the complicity of Boris Darley and Quentin Cholet. The evolution lies in the fact that these improvised tracks served as the basis for multi recordings. The piano offering an infinite palette of sounds, these tracks were somehow ‘orchestrated’ a posteriori thanks to the addition of sound layers, all drawn solely from this instrument. Anima is therefore a combination of acoustic sound recording and computer processing of sounds in a very organic and direct relationship with the music.
